Why were silver-gold and bronze colors chosen as rewards for Olympic medals?

Please, no answers as it goes, in value and demand of gold being the most wanted because it is the most brilliant metallic pigments and money being the next desired because it is the most brilliant second and bronze make the third and final wanted. Is there a story? What is history? Who chose these colors and why were they chosen? Please do not link your story or long and endless with many words. Make it as short as possible. I'm curious.

The term refers to an allowance victory at the modern Olympic Games, because the medals were not awarded during the ancient Games. In 1896, the winners received a silver medal, second place received a bronze medal. In 1900, most winners received cups or trophies instead of medals. The use of the sequence of gold-silver-bronze for the first three places dates Games 1904 and has been adopted by many other sporting events. Traditionally, the medals are made of metals: 1. Gold (or other metal yellow, for example brass) 2. Silver (gray or another metal, eg steel) 3. The bronze metal designate the first three ages of man in Greek mythology: the golden age when men lived among the gods, the Silver Age, which lasted a hundred years and the Bronze Age, the era of heroes. (The present time is called the Iron Age.) Note that the metals are more more prone to corrosion. In a few sports tournament, such as boxing and judo, two bronze medals were awarded in each event - One for each semi-finalist or eliminated to the repechage winners brackets.
