Chinese radicals? Please help me understand?

What are the benefits of learning Mandarin (Chinese), the radicals, there are like 214, I know (KangXi radicals)? Can I ignore these and just learn the characters as full wo, Ni, ta ... etc.? Im having problems with the learning of Chinese characters, I could try to learn 1 or two a day for about 3-4 hours per day and, after a week I forget normally selected. Anybody have any tips?

Advantages: 1. To find a Chinese character (or letter) in a Chinese dictionary, you need to know pronunciation (Pinyin "拼音, specifically) or radical. And in this case, knowing the root of this Chinese character expedite the process. 2. It might be useful to memorize the characters. 3. It could be used to describe (or differentitate, sometimes) to a character. Some characters pronunciated are in the same way, so they can be differentiated using radicals. BUT: Sometimes the radical may not be seen. You can learn Chinese characters with radicals, you need not recite all the radicals because sometimes you meet them and you know what they mean, but you do not need to skip completely, you can try to break down a word and see. For example,忘(forget) can be decomposed into亡(die, lost) and心(heart) and is心忘radical. You may recognize忘as "something in the heart lost. Tips for Learning: Try to make some sentences using the words you know. Read books (do not forget to check dictionary) Relax and funny. (<- Most important) ** Note: I am not a professional Chinese.
