How can I make ornaments, metal black antique look rusty?

They are candle holders, but they are black and I want them correspond to the room they are in. The colors in the room are beige and burgundy and the furniture is a dark oak color, all wood. get a little rust colored acrylic paint (comes in small bottles for about 1 dollar). apply to black candlesticks with a sponge. make sure the sponge has no paint on the subject - Pat a few times on something first to get rid of excess. then just lightly dab the surface of the chandelier at random. do not press too hard. rusty paint will only touch the upper surfaces leaving the black in the crevices and lower areas.
